Classic Kodachrome Monday #50

Every Monday, I'll be spotlighting a different classic Kodachrome slide that I've picked up, and trying where I can to detail the who, what, when, where, why, and how (much) of the image:

This Week:

What: After the Rain

Why: It captures a rare and photogenic setting, shortly after a rain storm with completely soaked streets, but with sunlight to illuminate the scene and offer some wonderful reflections from the blacktop surfaces.  Add in a host of lovely vintage vehicles, and some great vertical signs on the buildings, as well as some added people in period dress to round out the scene, and the result is a true classic.

When: Based upon the mounting, this was taken in July of 1958.

Where: San Antonio, TX. This is VERY close in both geography and period to the location of Classic Kodachrome Monday #7, but it definitely merited featuring as it is even more compelling to me than that one.  That said, the approximate location is shown below, with the main landmarks visible today being the Majestic Theatre and surrounding buildings.

Who: Lots of folks, but all are anonymous.

How (much): I can't balk at all at paying $4.50 through ebay for this great slide.
