Kodachrome Classic Monday #74

Every Monday, I'll be spotlighting a different classic Kodachrome slide that I've picked up, and trying where I can to detail the who, what, when, where, why, and how (much) of the image:

This Week:

What: The Colors of the 1950's mountainside

Why: This shot almost looks like something out an idealized model railroad layout, with the dramatic hill in the backdrop, the old west buildings, and a host of autos nearly resplendent with some fantastic color schemes to be seen in brilliant Kodachrome color!

When: Appears to be circa 1957 or thereabouts.

Where: Virginia City, NV. Where else could one find such a nostalgic slice of the Old West still alive? The scene today is largely the same, with the Old Washoe Club still featuring prominently in the vista from this spot!

Who: A few folks dotting the colorful scene, but not too many.

How (much): $7.00 and free shipping on ebay.
